Eastwood Memorial Day Parade May 26, 2025
For 50+ years the Eastwood Memorial Day Parade has been the only Memorial Day Parade in the City of Syracuse. The parade ends at Greenway Veterans’ Memorial Park at James and Grant with a ceremony honoring servicemembers who died while serving in the military. You can read more about the monument below.
Parade starts at 9 AM at Nichols and James and heads west to Greenway Veterans’ Memorial Park at James and Grant, ending with a ceremony honoring servicemembers who died while serving in the military. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the parade, with performances by the Pride of Syracuse City School District's Marching Band!
We’re looking for youth sports, clubs, classic cars, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and others to walk or drive in the parade. Sign up via the button below.
We also need volunteers to help manage traffic at intersections.
The Eastwood American Legion Post 1276 has been hosting the Eastwood Memorial Day Parade (the City’s only Memorial Day Parade) for over 70 years. Photos below from “Did You Know? A History and Memories of Eastwood, New York, Book 1” by Margaret McVicker, 2010.
2023 was the first year the parade was jointly presented by the Legion and ENA and we had a great turnout - we distributed 450 flags to parade spectators! Memorial Day 2023 was the 75th anniversary of the dedication of the monument in Greenway Veterans’ Memorial Park, which was initially funded by the Eastwood American Legion Post 1276 and the Eastwood Lions Club.
In 2014 two new stones were dedicated, recognizing deployments after the Vietnam War: Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. In addition, they added new flag poles, new flags, and energy efficient lighting. ENA worked with the Eastwood American Legion and the City of Syracuse to raise $17,000 from: The Gifford Foundation, Syracuse Parks Conservancy, Eastwood TNT, The East Room, The Eastwood Lions Club, and many Eastwood residents. Lutz Monument supplied the new stones and restored the original stone that they installed in 1948.
Thank you to everyone who came out for the 2024 Memorial Day Parade!

In 2023, all were happy to see the parade return after a three-year hiatus. Check out photos of the festivities below and here.
